Chinese, Albanian... TOTALLY the same!

Hi Internet,

Have I mentioned I LOVE my job? The kids started coming on Wednesday and it's been a BLAST! I love those little guys!

So, here's a picture of the classroom. Pretty cute eh? If you couldn't tell we're going for the Barn theme. And the kiddos made the chickens yesterday and today. ADORABLE!

So, here's the funny for the day...

So, there is a student in the class who only speaks Albanian (that's going to be a bit of a challenge) and she was playing LEGOS during centers with another little girl, and the English speaking girl was making conversation with the Albanian speaking girl, and the Albanian speaking girl would speak and she couldn't understand, and I heard the following and BUSTED UP LAUGHING!

English speaking student to Albanian Student (like you would a toddler): Can you say LEGO in Chinese??????

Hahahahaha! I love how her little brain automatically decided since she couldn't understand her she must be speaking Chinese!

Precious.

It's Hard Not to Laugh Sometimes....

Hey Internet,

Sorry I haven't been posting as often as I should, I've been working again this week at my sweet new job as a Kindergarten Aid! SO FUN! We've been testing the kiddos one at a time, so it's been fun to meet all the parents and kids. Kinda precious. But one funny thing that happened....

So, in the testing we're trying to see where the students are at and we do some picture-word recognition, well first little girl comes in and sees a picture like this:

Teacher: Can you tell me what this is a picture of?

Girl: Yes, that is a picture of a lamp, but in MY house, WE have Chandeliers.

BUWAHAHAHAHA!
Where do kids think of this stuff? I can't wait to hear more this year!

"A Fair is a Veritable Smorgasbord!"

Oh hey internet,

So, as promised, I have pics from my visit to the Tanana Valley Fair!

The oh, so delicious Bear Claw with Toe Jam. YUM!

Monday was Family night and so we went for some Family Fun, but the little one decided that us old people were boring and was calling it "family dumb night." I can't believe my baby brother is getting to the age when it's no longer cool to be seen with your family! haha

Baby Brother had NEVER been on a carnival ride! Can you believe it???? So, we all rode the ferris wheel with him.

As you can tell he LOVED it. Actually, he did. We were stopped at the very top and he was like "Oh look at the view!" and then middle brother started rocking and the moment was ruined. Hahaha!

Well, by then he had mustered up enough courage to go on the big purple slide. He even cheated and beat his big brother to the end.

Thanks for the memories fair! Can't wait til next year!

Yes, I am a snob. So, sue me.

Hey internet,

So, I went to the fair yesterday, but I'll post more about that later in the week. Today, I have a confession to make.

I like Macaroni and Cheese. The BOX kind.

BUT, not just any box will do. Nope.

It has to be the blue box, Kraft.

AND.

It has to be the shape kind. Scooby, Sponge Bob, Toy Story, you name it. But I like me some cartoon pasta.

It just tastes better. I think it's something about the cheese being in all the nooks and crannies of the noodle.

Truly, shaped Macaroni and Cheese is a better way to live. Not just for kids. Give it a try if you haven't for awhile, you won't be sorry.

Hey Internet.

Just thought you'd like to know that I'm FREEZING! I could so go for a snuggle buddy right now! Speaking of.... Um, is it just me, or does anyone else, who knows the boy who took me to haunted house that didn't exist think that Andrew from the Real World DC could be his identical twin???

I thought so too. WEIRD!

Stay Warm!

Lucy! I'm Ho-ome!

Hey Internet,

So, I'm dog sitting. This is Lucy. We're besties.

She thinks it's ok to lick my face to wake me up in the morning. It's not. We're working on that. But, she does like when we watch Jersey Shore. Haha!

The Plan!

Hey Internet.

The fair starts this week! Remember last year? Well tell you what, I am SO ready for some Bear Claws baby!

So, remember how I have THE plan that I'm going to start living and not waiting around for my life to get good? Well. One of the main inspirations was going to Europe. You see I have some fantastic roommates who are still just as single and perhaps more fantastic than myself.

So, WE are going on a cruise to Europe in 2011! Not sure when, or exactly where.. but I know one thing. I REALLY want to go here:

Santorini, Greece! Can you imagine water THAT blue?? You maybe remember this scenery from Mama Mia and Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants.

But yeah. I want to go there. And besides, I feel like cruising is SO my jam for a few reasons:

1. No hauling your bags everywhere.

2. No paying for hotels and food...

3. No sleeping next to strangers named Lars and Sven in dirty hostels.

WIN! WIN! WIN!

So, now the plan is this.

Look HOT so I can take a passport pic

Save Money.

Find fantastic clothes to wear.

Yay! Hurry up 2011, I want to go!

This Was NOT My Finest Moment...

Hello Internet!

Good News! Warm weather has returned to Alaska and I am LOVING it! So, I had a request last week to blog about an experience from my High School days.... It's a gem. So, remember how I tried to be the most holy/righteous girl so that boy would fall in love with me? And they called me the "Seminary Demon"... Well, there was maybe a little incident that also inspired said nickname.

So, may I present to you... Holy Flying Hymnals!

Ok, so hopefully you read chapter 1 of my life story (click link above) so you know that I am already a little bit hated among my church peers for being a know-it-all/goodie-goodie/pious/zealot. ..

So, one day we were in seminary (And early morning scripture study class for members of my church) and watching a movie. I was sitting in the front row trying to learn as much as I could so that I could be exalted... And maybe someone on the back row... who shall remain nameless... made a rude comment about something on the movie. I was infuriated. Why I'm not sure, the comment wasn't about me, but I felt it was disrespectful. Something HAD to be done! (Nevermind that the teacher was in the room and is the boss...) I looked around and the only thing I could see was a green hymnal.

I grabbed the book and thrust it over my shoulder frisbee style toward the young man and nailed him on the shoulder with my weapon. The book hit the floor with a thud. The boy yelled in pain and I continued to watch the movie as though nothing had happened. The movie ended and class was over, everyone left but me. I stayed in my seat and when the class ended I got up, picked up my arsenal and apologized for the teacher. Ha!

I have provided a sample of the scene. But please keep in mind, in real life:

1. I was the ONLY person on the front row.
2. I lived in Alaska, so no palm trees.
3. This took place in 1999... not 1945.

So, there you have it. My infamous Hymnal throwing of 1999!
