So, in keeping with our theme...
ashlee said... WORST DATE EVER! IN DETAIL....
Well Ash, I HOPE this is the one that you are referring to. Cause I know that it was a bad one for me, but there are so many to choose from! Haha!
Again, same rules apply, if you know the parties involved, please respect others privacy. :) *
Names have been changed to protect the innocent.(Also, I apologize, cause I just finished and realize this is a NOVEL, so if you're short on time, stop reading here.)
Once upon a time, there was a girl named ME. And I may or may not have met a young man who shall be named Dexter*. We became fast friends. Now Dexter LOVED Haunted Houses. The first time we met, the whole group went to see a place where teenage girls in Idaho would go and perform witchcraft, apparently the place was haunted.
So, I knew I liked Dexter, and I was pretty sure he might like me. And it was a Friday night. I didn't really have anything planned, but I knew that I wanted to hang out with him. And my roommates were telling me to call him. But, if you know me, I'm 100% Old School and asking out is SOOO a boy job. So, I told my roommates I was going to leave it up to fate. If he called before 7:35, it was meant to be, if not, then it wasn't.
Well, at 7:34 the phone rang. It was Dexter. He explained that he was babysitting his little brothers and couldn't go out, but could come pick me up and we could watch a movie at his place. I was ecstatic. Like seriously, hand was shaking as I put on my lip gloss. Well, he came to pick me up in his 2003 (Brand new) Black, VW Jetta 1.8T. Hot. (You can see I liked the kid by how much I know about his car. haha)

So, we drive to his [Parent's] house and I meet his little brothers and we go down in the basement to watch Orange County, cause Hello, Jack Black is HILARIOUS, and he had never seen it. We sat by each other on the love seat, but there was no love, he did not hold my hand, and it was in PRIME hand holding position. His friend Jon* comes over, "cause he wanted him to meet me." Awkward. THEN. Dexter's little brother comes downstairs and is like "the phone's for you" So, then I hear a conversation along the lines of
the girl I was telling you about is over. And next thing I know a girl named *Else has joined the party. GREAT! In the meantime, Dexter's little brothers have actually gone across the street without telling anyone, great babysitter. Haha
So, the Jon and Else leave and it's the two of us, sitting in the kitchen, unaware that his little brothers could have been kidnapped. And I see car lights pulling into the driveway, and I'm thinking
Oh crap! His parents are here, and I'm going to have to meet them. Wonderful! So, I met his parents, they were lovely, they asked lots of questions about Alaska and Dexter was freaking out. Super embarrassed. So, turns to me and is like we HAVE to get out of here. Ok. So, we get in the Jetta. He apologized for it being awkward, I made some comment about how it won't be awkward next time. (Smooth huh? haha)
But, I was kinda bummed we hadn't had much alone time. So, he was like well, do you want me to take you home? (It was still pretty early.) And I had to think of something, so I was like "Well, have you found any cool new haunted houses lately??"
Disclaimer. I HATE being scared. I can't watch Unsolved Mysteries cause it gives me nightmares, I don't watch previews for horror movies. Haunted Houses NOT. MY. JAM.
Well, Dexter perks right up and is like actually, there is one I'd like to show you if you don't mind. "Sounds fun." (LIES!) So, we're driving and he's telling me this story of how a family of five was brutally murdered and all I can hear is this voice in my head yelling "SHUT UP AND KISS MY FACE!!!"
So, we pulled up to the house, and it was scary. It was an old abandoned house that the doors were kicked in, the shutters were falling off and all the local teenagers would go to vandalize and cause trouble. So, he turns to me and is like "you want to go in??"
Are you crazy! No, I don't want to go in THERE! "Sure! Why not!" I couldn't believe what I was saying! BUT, I knew that this would be PRIME hand holding opportunity: Dark, Cold, and Scary!
We walk up to the creepy door. No flashlight, nothing. I maybe make a comment along the lines of if I pee myself it's his fault. And we enter. That place was scary! And we couldn't see a thing. I tried to bump into him, nothing. So, we walk around for a minute and he's like "it's really eerie in here, there's a haunted barn out back, you want to go there?"
Ok. Hindsight is 20/20 right? The haunted barn, was located right by a cute little streetlamp. I can't believe I fell for this. haha. I tried to find pics of the place, but sadly it was demolished a few years ago. Tragic. Back to the story.....
So, we're walking outside, we're talking about the future, about goals, blah, blah, blah. We talk about stars, and how I'm obsessed with them. And it was kinda cold, so we get back in the car and he's SUPER fidgety and he's like "I have one more place I'd like to show you, is that ok?" Now, we're already 0 for 2, so I'm thinking what could it hurt. And he drives up to this second location after talking about some girl hanging herself, and again, all I heard was blah, blah blah, KISS MY FACE!
We got out of the car and started walking up a hill. Thanks to the magic of Google, you can see the place for yourself. (Again with the hindsight thing, the place we were at, was the University Botanical Gardens. I was such a sucker. haha)

So, we're walking up the trail, try the "bump into you by accident" trick... nothing. We get to the top of the hill and Holeen! The most BEAUTIFUL scene I've ever witness, in my life. There were like a MILLION stars out, you could see city lights for miles. Picturesque. This is the kind of place you take a lady to confess your undying love for her and give her some diamonds, ok? So, I'm taking in the view and Dexter is FREAKING out! And then I start getting nervous.
Dexter: Uhhh, so I guess you're probably wondering what we're doing here. Cause there isn't a haunted house...
I stopped breathing and almost peed on myself.
D: I was going to go out on a limb here and I don't know if it's working....
I'm like trying to process what just happened, cause next thing I know, he's walking down the hill and I'm still baffled at the top. So, I run to catch up to him and we talk about how he was stressed about school, and work, and family. And then we got to the Jetta. And we stood there for what seemed like an ETERNITY. Nothing. We got in the car. Awkward silence for 10 minutes. Now by then I was done, I put on my seat belt as a cue to take me home! Haha He drove me home, took the "wrong road"...TWICE. (He had lived in that town his whole life. Puh-lease!) And then we sat in my complex parking lot for 2 hours, until the "Boot Man" came and flashed his lights at us. Curse you Boot Man! haha And then I went inside my house. My 5 roommates were all waiting my the door to hear the juicy details.

And I will never forget what I told them:
"NOTHING!! NOTHING!!! WHO TAKES A GIRL TO A HAUNTED HOUSE, THAT DOESN'T EXIST AND DOESN'T HOLD HER HAND OR KISS HER FACE?!?!"
Hahahaha.
And THAT, internet, is why I am a bad dater! What's your worst date story???
