Do They Even Exist???

Hi Internet,

I love this commercial.

I feel like finding a decent a fella is about realistic as Santa Claus or a talking M&M. 

Are there any good guys out there?!?! The only ones I've met are shallow, unstable or just plain weird. And the ones who aren't think I'm nuts.

Please don't comment if you're already married and you want  to lecture me about not to giving up.  I need hope. I'm not fishing for compliments, promise.

I hope you're all enjoying your time with your families and friends and celebrating this Easter season! I've been so impressed lately with how much my Savior loves me, and how grateful I am for his Atonement and sacrifice for me. I love what Elder Holland shares about the Atonement of Jesus Christ.

I know that Jesus Christ lives. I know that he walked upon this Earth, a perfect man. He offered himself as a sacrifice for me. That when I make mistakes, Jesus Christ has already paid the price, all he asks of me is that I turn to him. I know that through the Atonement of Jesus Christ he perfectly understands me. He knows my pain, he knows my sorrow, he knows my fears and my joys. I know that he was resurrected and because of his ressurrection I know that we will live again, that this life is not the end. We can be with those we love forever. I am forever thankful the Jesus Christ loved me enough to die for me, and more importantly, that he lives for me today.

Love one Another

Internet. I have the WORST. COLD. EVER.

It's bad. My head might implode. But, this weekend, despite the congestion, runny nose, sore throat and coughing, was wonderful.

This weekend was stake conference for my church. A meeting where the people in my area gather to hear our local leaders speak to us. 

I had the opportunity to participate in the choir. 

It was a special choir made up of Relief Society sisters in the Northern half of Alaska!

I sing a bit, and I usually don't get too emotional, but one of the songs we sang has really changed my life.

It was a rendition of Love One Another, a song I have sung since I was a little girl, but it was an added phrase that has added new meaning and direction to my life. I'll admit when I first read the music, I thought it was cheesey, but the more I read the words, the more I was struck by their power and significance. It says:

Now there were in that Upper Chamber,

Jesus and his disciples.

There to eat the Supper of the Passover,

Ere the end should come.
Then Jesus looked in their faces,

And unto them he spake;

As I have loved you,

Love one another.

This new commandment,

Love one another.

By this shall me know

Ye are my disciples,

If ye have love, 

One to another.

I can't even type the lyrics without feeling the Spirit. I think about what that would have been like. Christ knew the end was coming, and his disciples knew that something was wrong. Jesus Christ was their friend, their example. I can only imagine the fear and concern they must have felt.

And I love how it says that Jesus looked in their faces, seeing this concern, and he teaches them a beautiful lesson. Don't be worried, love each other. Love each other like I have loved you. As you love and lift others, that is how they will know that you are a follower of me.

I find it so moving that one of the last things the Savior taught before he took upon himself the pains of my mortality was to teach us to love each other. To support and lift one another. I can think of no better way to celebrate this Easter season than to be a little more kind, a little more loving and to truly follow Jesus Christ, than to do as he said and love one another.

Ahhh! My Favorite Past Time!

So, my Communications class got out a half an hour early and lo and behold my Linguistics class was cancelled as well. So, you know what I did?

I used my Birthday Gift Card from the Kindergartners to get a pedicure.

I LOVE having my feet rubbed. I'm not usually a touchy person, but I am ALL about someone massaging and buffing and scaping my feet! 

My cousin asked me once if I had an extra $20 a week to do whatever I wanted with, what would I do? 

Easy Peasy. I'd get a pedicure. 

It's just so relaxing!

I don't really love feet, especially my "little smokey" toes I inherited from my dad's side... but since posts without pictures are boring and the girl just used my toe as a canvas for the flower, I decided I would post this.

All My Single Ladies!

Hi Internet,

So, there's been a subject weighing on my mind. AND, since this is MY blog, and you my devoted readers....You can read all about it.

I know LOTS of INCREDIBLE, TALENTED, BEAUTIFUL single women. Many are my friends, relatives and former roommates. (who may as well be sisters) These women live across the US and are 100% single, with no eligible bachelors in sight.

I find this to be a problem. 

Apparently, the leaders of my faith also see it as a problem. Listen Here and Here to hear what was said just this weekend*.

While I recognize this is a problem, I feel like worrying about the lack of suitors for my friends and I is not productive.

I read a quote once that said:

Stop looking for the man of your dreams and start becoming the woman of his.

I have decided that rather than fixate on the "problem" I need to do everything in my power so that I can realize my lifelong dream of being a wife and mother.

I share with you my list of qualities I want to develop in myself to be a better person 

(Because ultimately, that's more important than my marital status, being the best person I can be.)

*Be Healthy

*Finish my Education

*Begin my career 

*Get out of debt

*Save Money

*Learn to cook new foods

*Find Opportunities to help other people

*Strengthen my Faith in my Heavenly Father

*Strengthen relationships with my family

So, there you have it internet. MY contribution to the worldwide plague of singleness.

Kindergarten Gems

Hi Internet,

Probably should be writing an essay right now... but I'm putting it off. Early morning for me! 

So, I went to work today. Have I told you this week how much I love those kiddos? Here are some gems from lately that I don't want to forget.

Today we went to the star lab (an inflatable planetarium) to watch a presentation about the solar system. 

The kids LOVED it! 

It was so cute cause one little guy wore a glow-in-the-dark shirt just so that he wouldn't be too scared in the dark. (Awww)

But the best was when the guy dimmed the lights and "turned on the stars" and the girl next to me put her head on my shoulder and said "This is the BEST day of my life!"

Melt. My. Heart.

And they're so dang funny!

I was working with a little boy on his homework and I told him to write his name and this conversation occured:

Little Boy:I know how to write Korean!

Me: Oh you do?

LB: Yep, see? *Scribbles a wavy line

Me: Oh, great.

We finish the assignment and I sign my name in cursive to say that he had completed the page

LB: Hey! You can write in Korean too!!

Hahahaha! 

But my FAVORITE from this week was a convo I had with a little girl while we waited for her to be picked up.

There's a huge snow berm outside of the school that has turned into ice with our recent weather and the kids like to climb on it and then they fall and it's just a mess. So, I told the girl to get off the iceberg.

Girl with Speech impediment: I taw Titanic, it dot hit by a iceberd  

(I saw Titanic, it got hit by an iceberg)

Me: Oh you did? 

So, I'm thinking what parent shows TITANIC to their 5 year old?! So, I was wondering if she had REALLY seen it, so I asked her more....

Me: So, what was your favorite part?

 GwSI: I wike the pard where Rose frows the bwoo neck-ace in the water. Jack he died at the end in the coad wader. And jack he drawed a pitcher.

(I like the part where Rose throws the blue necklace in the water. Jack, he died at the end in the cold water. And Jack, he drawed a picture)

 Me: What was the picture of????

GwSI: Rose

Me: Really? 

GwSI: She was naked.

Me: Oh my goodness! Then what happened?

GwSI: Dey had to rud away from Rose Boyfrien' and the wend in a car. 

(The had to run away from Rose's Boyfriend and went in a car)

Me: What did they do in the car.

GwSI: Them maked ROMANCE.

BUWAHAHAHAHAHA!

I love her play-by-play! And I love my job!
